Sometimes song titles seem completely abstract from their content. Other times, as in the case of Nicholas Krgovich’s pop gem “Along the PCH on Oscar Night,” reading the song title and then hearing the content feels like, “Yes, that’s exactly what that sound like.” The Vancouver songwriter is a master of creating breezy and beautiful pop tracks. Rising synths are a nightfall wind filling the song’s background as steady piano chords and upbeat electronic drums propel the car further down the highway. Flourishes of keys twinkle like city lights. The whole world is at home, tuned into their televisions, but you hadn’t rather be anywhere than here. Stream “Along the PCH on Oscar Night” below.
