Track Review: “Come Near” – Lykke Li

Lykke Li released a new song on Record Store Day. “Come Near” is one of 15 tracks on a compilation from Li’s new record label, Ingrid. Between a new label and a recent engagement (cue the sound of a thousand hearts breaking), it sounds like the singer has a lot to celebrate. Ingrid Volym 1 also features pieces by Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt, Peter Moren (of Peter, Bjorn, and John), and most surprisingly, Swedish film icon Max Von Sydow. “Come Near” sounds like a chant, with tribal-esque drums and shakers creating a background for Li’s powerful voice. The sparse, rhythmic feeling of the track, in combination with echoed and urgent vocals, are certainly in the same vein as Li’s previous album, Wounded Rhymes. We’re into it.

Listen to the track over at Pretty Much Amazing or buy the compilation from Amazon.
