Track Review: “Let Me In” – Hunx

Seth Bogart (Hunx), formerly of electro outfit GravyTrain!!!!, has released a new album: Hairdresser Blues. This marks Bogart’s first release without “his Punx,” but don’t worry- he doesn’t seem to miss them. Hairdresser Blues features ten jangly pop-rock songs primarily about what it’s like to fall in love, and in some cases, to then fall out of it. The standout track of the album also happens to be the new single- “Let Me In” is a 50’s inspired pop song with ringing guitar and catchy hooks. Hunx pleads “come on and let me in/ let me into your life and finish what you started,” a sentiment which immediately recalls Gladys Knight’s beloved hit “Come Back & Finish What You Started.” Bogart’ voice echoes out over straightforward, but catchy, drums and playful riffs before a final, forceful demand to let him in. Will you?
