Adam Yauch (aka MCA) of the Beastie Boys has passed away at the age of 47. The gangly adolescent turned political activist was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, resulting in canceled appearances and the delay of their newest album Hot Sauce Committee. He will not only be remembered as a Beastie Boy, but for his work founding Oscilloscope Laboratories (which reared movies Wendy and Lucy, and last year’s We Need to Talk About Kevin) as well as the Tibetan Freedom Concerts. The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.
