Track Review: “The March” – 2:54

Songstress sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow have released another song in advance of their forthcoming, eponymous album, but you won’t find this b-side among the tracks when it drops later this month. “The March” is a lighter, more airy cut than some of the foreboding songs we’ve heard from the UK outfit. As the song opens, a floating and sparse intro builds to what is almost certainly an exploding point, but takes a surprising, refreshing turn into soft guitar and vocals.  The song then begins to pick up steam, and the steady rhythm of the song mirrors the repetitive refrain, “I hear them marching, marching.” Backing members of the band Alex Robins and Joel Porter help out in the end as the song dissolves into chanted whoa-ohs.
