Track Review: “1904” – The Tallest Man On Earth

Though The Tallest Man On Earth’s new album, There’s No Leaving Now, has been announced for some time, today marks the first sounds released from the record that will follow on June 12th. “1904” continues the traditions that songwriter Kristian Matsson has previously set forth with its folky simplicity. It’s amazing just how much sonic space can be commanded by two layered guitars and Matsson’s good-natured growl. The song’s refrain, “shook the earth in 1904” is as catchy as they come, and the sparse, high-range notes sprinkled throughout the song shine. We can’t wait to hear the rest of the album, which is available for pre-order now over at Dead Oceans, just follow the link right here. Download “1904” below or stream from Soundcloud.
