Kindness’ new music video for the song “House” is brilliant on so many levels. At the start, Adam Bainbridge waxes philosophical about the cultural importance of pop music and then elicits some help from an adorable eight year old boy to teach us all a little about the structure of his songs. The inclusion of the boy, Ramon, plays intelligently on the time-honored tradition of audience participation, but does so in video format. In the course of the almost seven minute video, the song is never played in its entirety. This decision is brilliant in itself because it allows the viewer to experience the infectious beat and beautiful keys without giving away all of its secrets. All we want to do now is go buy the record. We suggest you do the same.
