P.W. Elverum & Sun Announce the Anacortes Unknown Music Series #1

After last year’s annual What the Heck Fest, Phil Elverum of Microphones/Mount Eerie/D+/K Records fame announced that the festival would not be continuing into its 11th year. Instead, he and fellow D+ member and WTH organizer took some time to focus on their own recording projects. The result was a prolific song writing period, culminating in two records, the first of which is reviewed today on our site.

More importantly, after emerging from this period of hibernation, Elverum has announced the Anacortes Unknown Music Series #1, which will be held in Anacortes on July 13th, 14th, and 15th. The following excerpt regarding the series is taken from the project’s official site:

“After 10 excellent editions we decided to wrap up that project and embark on a new different thing called “the Anacortes Unknown Music Series.” All we knew about the new project was that it might be more frequent than once a year and it might be smaller than a full 3 day festival of music, and it would be more deliberately curated special events. Also, it would be centered around a new space we’re calling “the Unknown”, located inside the empty old catholic church.”

Confirmed performers for the festival include:

D+, LAKE, Mount Eerie, Lori Goldston, Ô Paon, Vanessa Renwick, Motorbikes, Hungry Cloud Darkening, Bouquet, Karl Blau, Lovers Without Borders, Takhoma, Urine, Bryan, Frank & Bob, Sleepy Lagoon, and more to come.
