The Black Keys have teamed up with Harmony Korine, the bizarre director of Gummo, Kids, and Mister Lonely, to make a “film” that utilizes their song “Gold on the Ceiling” from their most recent effort, El Camino. The video involves strange costuming, large baby bottles, and random phrases about “Twinz” that pop up in 80s-like pixelated font. The audio of the song is distorted by feedback and what sounds like a poorly connected feed. At times, the audio and picture cut away to silence and a single typed message. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any stranger, the song totally falls away to introduce the “ATL Twinz,” a pair of rappers that are bragging about being “caked up” and who appear to be eating bars of gold. Harmony Korine’s “remix” of the song and “film” to accompany it is as weird as would be expected from such a director.
