Since the 80s, Japan’s Shonen Knife have made a career of being the most lovable and insidiously adorable pop-punk girl group in the universe. Shonen Knife is sort of like a cuter, all-girl, Japanese Ramones—an identity they have openly embraced on earlier recordings. The band just released their newest full-length, Pop Tune, via Charamel Records in North America. The video for the single, which is called “Pop Tune,” featured the trio rocking out with a backdrop of handmade fabric birds pinned to a wall as well as popping up on the screen. Even as it recalls the facetious Portlandia skit “Put A Bird On It” it’s adorable as hell.
