I can say with totally subjective, fanboy excitement that I am completely beside myself over the news that Cat Power has announced a new album of original material. Sun will be released by Matador Records on September 4th. Furthermore, the album’s first single “Ruin” is available for download now, and you can read our full track review here. Indicators are that principal band member Chan Marshall will be taking things in a whole new direction for this release. If you pre-order via iTunes, starting tonight, you’ll be privy to a few bonus tracks on the digital release.
