Divine Fits (which includes Britt Daniel of Spoon, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade, and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks) has announced the release of their first single, “My Love is Real,” as a 7″ b/w a Camper Van Beethoven cover of “I Was Born in a Laundromat” via Merge Records on July 31st. The full-length, produced by Nick Launay (Public Image Ltd, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), will follow later this year. Details regarding the release date and track listing will be available in the future and will be covered on Pop Press International’s site, so stay tuned. For now you can stream the single by visiting the band’s Facebook page here and liking the page for the single. The song takes cue from 80’s dance hits with its electronic beat and synths, and the chorus vocals owe something to the Cure’s Robert Smith as Boeckner croaks, “My love is real.” You can pre-order the 7″ single from Merge right here.
