Blur’s new song “Under the Westway” possesses the dreamy, floating feel that has always made British rock so lush and enticing. Recently, bands have tended to place a still image of the album cover on a YouTube video to stream new songs, but the video for “Under the Westway” takes things a step further by scrolling through sheet music of the song’s lyrics. Blur, like many bands, have reunited to widespread fervor and frenzy, but have remained relatively slow in terms of production. This song along with a second track, “The Puritan,” that stands in stark contrast with its electronic effects and busy instrumentation, marks the bands first material since a 2010 Record Store Day single. Still, fans are always thrilled at any news of the classic band’s activity, and rightfully so, “Under the Westway” serves as another solid track from Blur.
