Caribou’s Dan Snaith to Release Solo Album as Daphni, Shares New Song

Caribou’s Dan Snaith has announced a solo record under the moniker Daphni. “JIAOLONG” (pronounced JOW-long) will be released through Merge Records on October 9th and is predicated on the newfound love of club and dance experiences Snaith has had in recent months. “I’d fallen back in love with moments in small, dark clubs when a DJ puts on a piece of music that not only can you not identify, but that until you heard it you could not have conceived of existing,” Snaith is quotes as saying in a press release.

The first glimpse of that is “Ye Ye,” a sprawling six minute club song that takes its time building to a pulsing rhythm. The only vocals featured on the track are the repetitive and hypnotic “ye ye.” The video, directed by Jane Eastlight is an entrancing panning over ornate patterned textures. Take a look above.
