Touring for a first record, especially in the days before it drops can make it difficult to draw out huge crowds of fans. However, it also provides a rare opportunity to see some great bands in smaller, more intimate environments, before before ticket prices are through the roof for large venues. Such is the case with Domino Records artist Night Moves.
The trio is ready to drop their debut, Colored Emotions, on October 9th via the Domino imprint. They’re just setting out on tour, and one of their first stops will be Stubb’s indoors on October 3rd. They’ll be fresh off of a show with Dirty Projectors and playing alongside Lord Huron. Musically, the trio creates epic soundscapes with soaring, high-range vocals. At times they recall 70s greats like Bowie or Queen. In the final, more subdued moments of “Horses” (below), I even catch flashes of one of my favorites, Big Star.
Go see the band at Stubb’s October 3rd. Watch their in studio video for “Horses” below. Full tour dates follow video.
