Like many musicians, Aly Spaltro, aka Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, cultivated her talent working a job at a video store, steeling away in the late night hours to work on songs. The efforts will culminate in Ripely Pine, her debut album due out February 19th on Ba Da Bing. Today, we’ve been given an initial glimpse at the album in album track “Rooftop.” Ambitiously, the song builds from sparse, picked guitar notes to full on power pop. Spaltro’s emphasis on guitar intricacies make sense of her upcoming tour dates supporting Kaki King. However, the pop influences here recall other artists such as Mirah’s lo-fi home recordings.
