New Track: “White Noise” – Black Books

Just in time for Christmas, we’ve been given an exquisite present: a new dark dream pop track called “White Noise” from Austin’s Black Books. We had an opportunity to see the band when they played the No Play Music curated All Tamara’s Parties event during ACL weekend. The song builds from subdued, clean-channel electrics into a flurry of echoing synths and guitars layered beneath excellent vocals. It reminds me  of a more atmospheric, less country version of early Band of Horses when the band was actually producing quality songs like “Wicked Gil” and “The First Song.” This is one of the most promising tracks we’ve heard all year and maybe the best yet by this young band.
