San Francisco’s Blank Tapes draw on 60s pop and psychedelia for their new songs “Mr. Mister” and “1000 Leather Tassels.” The organ of the former recalls songs by the Zombies, but the reverb laden guitar tones possess a more current vibe over snare centered drums. The latter track’s vocal melody feels Velvet Undergoundy but leans toward a more 90s sound that recalls early Apples in Stereo. Both are strong statements from an underrated band that impressed us live earlier this year. Hear the tracks below via Soundcloud.
