Merge Records has announced that it will release the debut effort Hell Hymns from North Carolina’s gritty, garage punk outfit Barren Girls. The album’s lead single, “She-Devil,” features gravelly vocals provided by Carla Wolff (awesome name) that grind along atop a swirling mess of distorted guitars. Packed with fury, the song recalls some of North Carolina’s longstanding punk roots. The band is purported has plans to appear at SXSW, so head’s up Austinites. Stream “She-Devil” below.
