25 Must-see Bands at SXSW 2013

sxsw2013SXSW 2013 starts this weekend with film, and music follows next Tuesday, which is almost impossible for us to believe. All this week, we’re going to bring you content regarding the nation’s best music festival, and we start today with our list of 25 must see acts in no particular order. Honestly, we could have made this list 50 artists, but we’re trying to keep it reasonable. Also, we felt like we could have put all 14 of the bands playing our SXSW day show Saturday March 16th on this list, but tried really hard not to. Since those really are some of the artists we’re most excited to see, you’ll find several below.

Lastly, here’s some general advice to all of you festival-goers. If you live in Austin, see some bands that don’t come here all the time! Also, to totally contradict that, see some local bands to support the Austin music scene; these bands make Austin the town that it is. Avoid seeing bands that will be here next month or that tour all the time. If you don’t live in Austin, see Austin bands! I sincerely believe that Austin has some of the best bands making music today. The only thing holding some of them back is that there are so many. This is the place to see them.

I always talk too much, so I’m avoiding the tendency to tell you why each of these bands deserves your attention. Follow us on twitter @poppressintl and Instagram for up to the minute SXSW updates from the field. Now, I will shut the hell up and let the music speak for itself. Happy SX 2013!
