Free Press Summer Fest Returns with Killer Lineup, Stream Tracks from Performing Artists

fpsfday1_057In response to Austin’s enormous SXSW, Austin City Limits, and Fun Fun Fun festivals, Houston is carving out a name for itself by hosting its own outstanding festival in the heart of downtown. Pop Press International provided coverage last year, and found ourselves enchanted with the festival’s lineup and structure.

Despite the summer heat, a “fancy-pants” wristband will get you access to tents with A/C. We found them definitely worth the price. In fact, the heat bothered me less than at some ACL fests in the past. There’s something about being able to take an A/C break that just resets the body’s temperature.

However it won’t be the tents that seal the deal for us this year–the lineup is one of the best we’ve seen, emphasizing band that are simply outstanding live such as TV on the Radio, Iggy and the Stooges, Japandroids, and The Men. They’ve also announced headliners The Postal Service, which we’re betting will draw a large crowd of attendees. Don’t wait, get your tickets here, now. See the full lineup here.

While your anxiously awaiting the festival, you can stream a mixtape of most of the artists performing via Soundcloud below.
