The Flaming Lips have released a video for the collaborative song they did with Bon Iver on last year’s The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. In the video rainbow-patterned visual noise distorts the image of a spaceman with a surreal eyeball in place of a head as he carries around a baby bearing an adult’s face. After encountering some post-apocalyptic naked folks who have been mutilated and are clutching vital organs such as their brains, the space-eyeball-man (spoiler ahead!) feeds the baby through a meat grinder. After seeing the Flaming Lips perform The Terror in its entirety at SXSW, the video makes a lot of sense… well maybe not sense, but thematically they’re unified. Though the record won’t drop until April 16th, it seems The Terror is already upon us. Watch the video for “Ashes in the Air” below.
