For the second weekend in a row, multiple noteworthy Austin artists are celebrating the release of new albums. Last weekend it was Greg Mullen and Walker Lukens; this weekend, we already brought you a preview of the Reservations release show, and now we’re telling you about Frank Smith’s album release slated to take place at Holy Mountain on Saturday night. We just reviewed the band’s new album Nineties, and we’ve seen them live a few times, including at our own SXSW day show.
The new record is outstanding–the finest work yet by an already highly accomplished band. We’re strongly encouraging all of our lovely, devoted readers to get down to Holy Mountain Saturday night and get down to some Frank Smith tunes when you get there. As if that weren’t enough, the Preservation (not Reservations) will be celebrating the release of a new single. Yes, the Preservation and Reservations both have release parties on the same night. Yes, we recommend cloning yourself. That’s what we’re doing.
Rounding out the bill are East Cameron Folkcore and Growl, who are apparently developing a habit of opening release party bills. Below you can hear a track from Nineties as well as one track from each of the openers.
