Austin songstress Leah Nobel has released a video for the title track from her new EP, Ride the Butterfly. Nobel’s music revolves around her impeccable voice as she weaves delicate and beautiful folk songs. The video for “Ride the Butterfly” is beautifully shot with vibrant colors and nostalgic, inspirational scenery. Nobel’s songwriting, voice, and video follow largely mainstream and traditional formats of music, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s a hardworking independent artist. Independent doesn’t have a sound per se, although most musicians we cover or who are making independent music don’t sound as traditionally accomplished as Nobel. The video and song serve as an interesting doorway to a discussion about the aesthetics of independent music.
