Os Mutantes Play Psych Fest This Weekend, Stream New Album Out Next Week

os_mutantesBrazilian psych-rock legends Os Mutantes will perform this weekend at Austin Psych Fest, among a roster full of other outstanding artists. Os Mutantes are one of those bands you thought you might never see. After breaking up in 1978, some material continued to trickle out after longstanding disputes had been resolved, but the band remained apart. It wasn’t until 2006 that a reunion was announced with new material following a few years later in 2009. Os Mutantes has influenced bands from David Byrne to Beck to of Montreal–they’re a cult hero band entrenched in the psyche of modern psych pop. Following their performance at Pysch Fest, the band will drop their second album of new material since their reunion; Fool Metal Jack will drop on April 30th. While you look forward to their Psych Fest show and the album, you can stream the entire thing below courtesy of NPR.
