Show Preview: Yo La Tengo at Mohawk Friday May 3rd

Yo La Tengo’s oeuvre spans an impressive array of musical styles and years, consisting of more than a dozen studio albums. Their newest effort Fade is outstanding–one of the finest albums of the year so far and a continuation of their excellent abilities. The songs on Fade range from epic opuses to buzzing pop songs to mellow ballads. It has been some time since they’ve been to Austin, so it’s no surprise that their show tomorrow at Mohawk is sold out. Just to get everyone all pumped up for the show, here’s a stream of “Ohm,” the opening track from Fade. And, hey, there’s always Craigslist or buying from a scalper. The prices we’ve seen aren’t too ridiculous for such a great band. On that note, to all those reselling: have a heart and sell for face value if you can’t go.
