Austin band Royal Forest is one of the city’s most under-talked-about bands on the scene. Frontman Cody Ground is something of an indie rock institution, having founded the band Loxly, who performed significant local gigs in Austin for years before Ground discontinued the project and began working as Royal Forest. While the band has a self-titled EP and a couple of single releases under their belt, Spillway will be their first full-length and is set for a July 10th release. Today the band made available “Everyone Who Knows Your,” the opening track from that forthcoming LP. The song features stuttering electronic loops and synth-scapes the pulse lowly under Cody Ground’s yearning vocals. Full of rich and competing textures, the track incorporates both buzzing pop and more dissonant experimentation. We’re expecting Spillway to represent the most promising material from this band yet.
