Mountain Goats Prep Re-issue of Classic All Hail West Texas

all_hail_west_texasThe Mountain Goats are my favorite band. So, the announcement that the group will release a remastered, expanded edition of their cult classic All Hail West Texas, which will be available on vinyl for the first time ever, causes me to fear for the stability of my now racing heart. The new edition of the album also includes 7 previously unreleased tracks unearthed from the original tapes to which the songs were recorded and an 1,800 word essay about John Darnielle’s songwriting and recording of the album. The band currently has a string of tour dates with The Baptist Generals. John, don’t you think it would be a good idea to swing by Texas in honor of this reissue? I sure do. Until then, all I can do is pre-order my copy of the record (which I have done and you an do here) and keep my fingers crossed. Below you can watch John Darnielle performing “Color In Your Cheeks” from All Hail West Texas for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series followed by the band’s current tour dates.
