New Mellow Pop from Lovers Without Borders – “She Wants a Baby”

Karl Blau performs at Anacortes Unknown #1 in July 2012.

Lovers Without Borders is a project comprised of Karl Blau, Allen Peril, and Jessica Bonin and based in Anacortes, Washington. The group runs with K Records stalwarts and alumni and has been known to consort with like minded musicians such as Mount Eerie and LAKE. The group has released a 7″ for “She Wants a Baby,” which is for sale now and features B-side “Sadder Days.”

The single recalls the simple, nonchalant humor of the Velvet Underground and channels Yo La Tengo’s mellower sensibilities. We love it. You can buy the 7″ on the band’s site right here, or stream the track below. Following the stream, there’s a Norwegian promo video for the band that’s pretty fascinating to watch even (or especially) if you don’t speak… Norwegian? No, it’s Nynorsk or Bokmål, but I couldn’t tell you which one’s in the video.
