Perhaps due to our globally-minded ethos and our blog’s moniker, we tend to get quite a few submissions from the UK. To be direct, I often find many of those submissions to be puzzling; I feel they are strangely driven from a point of reference that is foreign to me, and I find it difficult to enjoy. However, every once in a while something pokes through the fog and feels both unusual, fresh, and captivating. The new track and video for We Cut Corners’ “Best Friend,” fits that bill. The song starts with multi-tracked, rhythmic vocals sputtering over of minimalist production but soon explodes into a fury of gritty guitars and a cacophony of drums and symbols. We also dig the stylized animation for the video, which was done by Kijek/Adamski. Watch “Best Friend” below.
