It’s a spring surprise. In one sudden move, Austin trio Feverbones, comprised of Abram Shook (The Great Nostalgic, The Low Lows, Shearwater), Matthew Shepherd (Dana Falconberry), and Christopher Cox (Dana Falconberry, The Lovely Sparrows) have announced that their debut, eponymous EP will be picked up by Punctum Records and is out today. Both Cox and Shepherd contributed to Shook’s solo album, Sun Marquee, which dropped via Western Vinyl earlier this month. If these are names you don’t know, you should; Feverbones represents the convergence of three incredible musicians and offer great promise. A press release from the label, calls the EP “an attempt to speak plainly in a new language” and suggest that the songs are “an examination of intractable selves” posing the questions “How do we help and hurt ourselves? How do we keep our cool? How do we lose it?” Stream a track from the album below, order the album here, and make sure you catch the band at our own SXSW day show co-sponsored with Punctum — RSVP here.
