June 10th will bring the release of Loamlands new EP Some Kind of Light via Trekky Records. Today, the band shared “Another Reason,” a track from that forthcoming effort. Gently distorted guitar rings out before crisp acoustic plucking, tambourine, and four-count kick drum enter the mix. These elements create a pleasant and listenable folk arrangement, but its Kym Register’s vocals, with their classic country appeal, that provides “Another Reason” its strength. Some Kind of Light‘s traditional roots trace back not only to North Carolina where the EP was recorded, but to Register’s grandfather, a veteran of the Grand Ole Opry who gave her his first guitar and encouraged her to follow a music career. Surrounding the release of the EP, Loamlands will be out on tour, including a date in Austin at Mohawk with The Mountain Goats. Full dates follow the embed. Listen to “Another Reason” below.
