As previously reported, Justin Rice’s indie pop project Bishop Allen will return with a brand new album, Lights Out, due out August 19th on Dead Oceans. The group has already shared one single, and today released a second, “Why I Had to Go.” The song characteristically features mellow keys, pop-perfect guitars, and upbeat snares. It’s more proof that Lights Out will be utterly breezy and perfect for late-summer mixtapes. The group has also expanded their current tour, which includes a stop at Mohawk in Austin on August 30th. Full dates follow the embed. Listen to “Why I Had to Go” below.
