We were proud to partner with Austin Music People last year for the first annual Austin Music Blogger Awards. Austin is lucky to have an organization of people devoted to handling the hard work of actually working with the city to improve laws and policies that affect our vital music industry. It’s arduous work, and to help them out, you should plan on hitting one of the many, many shows they’ve put together across Austin this weekend.

Not surprisingly, the Red River and 7th Street areas will host a majority of the events for the weekend. Tonight, Holy Mountain, Red 7, and Empire Control Room host three shows that will offer an amazing variety of incredible bands, all within a few hundred feet of one another. We’re particularly stoked to see Löwin and Slomo Drags at Red 7; Harvet Thieves, Otis the Destroyer, and El Campo at Holy Mountain, and the whole lineup at Empire: Reservations, Lomelda, and Some Say Leland, three awesome bands that incidentally feature ladies in prominent roles.

Further up on Red River, Mom Jeans and Total Unicorn will rock Cheer Up Charlies. Across town at Hotel Vegas, Holy Wave will perform in celebration of their new album. And on Saturday night, Mohawk will host an epic bill featuring orchestral ensemble Mother Falcon, multi-instrumentalist Roger Sellers, rappers Magna Carda, and more. You can see a complete listing of these shows on the hub page for United We Jam, hosted on Do 512’s site. The page includes times, lineups, and links to tickets. Austin Music People has done an incredible amount for this city’s music industry, so if you’re a music lover, make sure you get out and support them this weekend. Listen to songs by many of the performing artists below.
