Yuma’s new single “Gone Before You Leave” explodes from the speakers at the onset, all squealing guitars and staccato snares. After a half minute of those early aughts guitar textures, the mix falls into a near jazzy bass line and clear vocals. These guys aren’t mumbling through garage rock or kicking out some slacker jam; Yuma is going big, in it to win it. Eventually, the over-five-minute-track falls into a slower pace as it wanders through crooning lyrics before hitting a brief but big guitar solo as the song closes out. The band’s next show is at Spider House Ballroom on October 1st. Stream the single below.
