A. Sinclair Celebrates New Vinyl Release Tomorrow at Mohawk

Before there was A. Sinclair, there was Frank Smith. Under the leadership of Aaron Sinclair, the band Frank Smith released a slew of quality albums and rallied a steady following of live-music loving Austinites. Since adopting the new moniker, the band has gained and lost a few members. More importantly, the group recently signed to Dangerbird Records (Silversun Pickups, Minus the Bear) and will celebrate the release of a new vinyl edition of their album, Pretty Girls, with a show at Mohawk tomorrow night.

The album contains flickers of the roughly-hewn Americana that the band has always possessed, primarily in Sinclair’s gravelly vocals. However, A. Sinclair is something more muscular and modern; a sheen of reverb lies atop powerful drum fills and bursts of distorted guitars. Well-balanced keys round out the mixes to create an incredibly full sound. These songs are unabashedly big. Stream “Shiny Things” from the album below, order the record here, and get tickets for the band’s show at Mohawk here.
