You may recognize SUPERMOON front man Paul Banks’ name from his work with his backing band The Carousels. Together, Paul Banks and The Carousels created folk rock songs with occasionally theatrical flairs. Following their most recent album, Yelling at the Sun, the group morphed into something new — SUPERMOON was born. Most importantly, this isn’t just a simple change in name; Banks et al. have expanded their sound dramatically, incorporating sweeping strings and energetic guitar parts that dance over fresh rhythms. Somewhere at the core, there’s a folk band, but SUPERMOON gives us so much more. I’m excited for the full album to drop in November, but before that, you can catch SUPERMOON celebrating the release of their new single “Emily (Knot My Nets)” tomorrow night at Mohawk along with Good Field, Burgess Meredith, and Chicon. Below you can stream the new single and its B-side, “Hitchhiker.”
