This Sunday at the Night Gallery, Austin, TX-based “desert-folk” singer-songwriter Julia Lucille will be drifting into Pittsburgh, PA, for a stop along her Bare & Bright Tour that has landed her all through the Midwest and will carry her into New England before descending back into the Deep South via Asheville, Athens, and Atlanta. Lucille’s aural gravity is contrasted by weightless lyrics that describe detailed observations of textures and faces and light patterns. She says the Bare & Bright Tour is “about resting, going on hikes, stopping for hot meals in small towns and bonding with my new dog, all while slowly building a community around the musical world I’m trying to create. Lots of the shows are house shows on this tour. The tour is about connection and slowing down, keeping things low-key.” Check below for a #bareandbright tour playlist curated by Lucille.
Joining Ms. Lucille will be local indie folk punks, Chattel Tail, lead by Laura Lee Burkhardt. Burkhardt sings earnest folk ballads about her place in the physical geography of western Pennsylvania, relationships with friends and parents, and growing older, all with a ramshackle DIY feel that lends incredible intimacy.
Joining late to the bill is looping improvisational duo qbdp and local fuzz quintet Slugss.
