You either have your tickets or you don’t. And if you have your tickets for Ty Segall’s sold out show at the Mohawk this Friday, there’s no doubt you’re already planning to be obliterated by Ty Segall’s pummeling, psych-tinged punk rock. You might even be reveling in the palpable anticipation of getting completely demolished by the prolific punk rocker’s off-the-rails set. If you aren’t ready, you have three more days to get ready. And we suggest it, because Ty Segall comes with an advisory: not suitable for children. Unless you’re Ty Segall himself, as he’s been known to don a creepy latex baby mask at recent shows with his new band the Muggers. Emotional Mugger, Segall & the Muggers’s new album, dropped recently, and the outfit is touring behind it. If we haven’t made ourselves very clear, Friday at the Mohawk will be a punk show for the history books. See you ticket holders at the Hawk. Below you can see the sort of antics we’re in for by checking out Segall’s performance on Colbert.
Lastly, even if you’ve got a ticket, we’d advise showing up early to catch the blistering psych-punk of CFM. Need convincing? CFM is Charles Moothart, the brains behind Fuzz (a collaboration with Ty Segall) and a contributor to albums by both Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin. You can stream the first single, “Lunar Heroine,” from his upcoming album, Still Life of Citrus and Slim, below.
