Three of Pittsburgh’s heaviest indie bands will perform Saturday at Spirit. The show starts at 9pm and the door costs less than two beers. Headlining the night is Shade, which has performed in Pittsburgh for almost two decades, spurring sincere fandom like this and recording great music like this. Relentless walls of undulating guitars mesh with keyboards and crash into wide-eyed onlookers. Get a lesson in stellar Pittsburgh music that blends shoegaze, Brit-Pop, and contemporary indie influences. Locals Pet Clinic continue the barrage of effected guitars and punishing rhythm sections. Expect new material from the group soon (please??), as their previous release has been out for four years. If you haven’t heard the group, think Smashing Pumpkins or Interpol. Driving rock with a seriously grimacing fuzzy edge. Also on the bill is Shaky Shrines who has been blowing up the Pop Press Intl feed with incredible new material. Fans of the Black Angels or 70s Kiss will be delighted by the straightforward and raw guitar rock. Check out this great track from Shade below and get yer bu*t to Spirit Saturday.
