Upcoming: Protomartyr Brings Post-Punk to Sidewinder (ATX)

protomartyrThis Friday, post punk outfit Protomartyr brings their live show to The Sidewinder, touring behind their newest effort, The Agent Intellect, out now on Hardly Art. While the band has the ability to dissolve into completely raucous instrumentation and cacophonous drums, their sound is distinguished by lean, angular guitar riffs and shifting arrangements with discordant yet melodic progressions. Frontman Joe Casey commands the stage with an unaffected, nonchalant demeanor as the band delivers scathing songs. Get your tickets here, and stream “I Forgive You” below.

Rounding out the night’s bill are two of Austin’s finest punk acts. Spray Paint lend their dissonant, disjointed songs to the evening, while Xetas kick off the show with furious, noisy punk. Stream music by both openers below. We strongly suggest arriving early to see all three of these great acts.
