Denton, TX dream pop band Pageantry have been honorary members of the Austin music community for a number of years now, as they often make the trek south to perform in the city’s numerous venues. During that time, the band has garnered such acclaim for their 2013 debut EP, it hardly seems real that their first album, Influence, is just now slated for release on April 1. Pageantry will host a string of release shows, beginning with an event in Austin at Cheer Up Charlies on Friday, April 1st, followed by a show in Waco at True Love on April 3rd and a show in their own hometown of Denton at Dan’s Silver Leaf on April 9th. Before all of that, Pageantry will perform at SXSW alongside several other Texas bands. But today, we are extremely proud to premiere a new track from the band’s forthcoming album. Undoubtedly, the time the band took to work on their debut full-length paid off, as “Teenage Crime Wave” is outstanding. It integrates the sweeping, buzzing dream pop and flowing melodies of Beach House but feels more grounded and powerful. These textured soundscapes are lush and captivating . We can’t wait to see what the rest of Influence has in store. Until then, we’ll be listening to “Teenage Crime Wave” on repeat, and so can you.
