Jangling and fuzzy, “Rattlesnake” is a bedroom pop gem from St Johns, Newfoundland-based songwriter Aaron Paul, who records under the moniker Fog Lake. The track wanders gently but steadily through wavering vocals and lethargically twinkling guitar notes to some quietly cathartic highs, recalling the songs on Youth Lagoon’s first album. In short, Fog Lake is an apt descriptor of the music’s aesthetic. Following last year’s Victoria Park LP, the track will be part of a new collection from Fog Lake planned for release on Orchid Tapes, an imprint that has also released material by slacker rock hero Alex G. Fog Lake is currently on tour in Canada and is making plans for a U.S. tour. Stay tuned and stream “Rattlesnake” below.
