Lafayette, Louisiana based band Brass Bed has long been a darling here at Pop Press International. So, it shouldn’t be taken lightly when we say that the band’s new album In the Yellow Leaf, out as of last week on Austin label Modern Outsider, is their best work to date. You don’t even have to take our word for it, as positive reviews have already appeared via NPR and All Music, among others, and song premieres via high profile outlets like USA Today and The Fader. Lush, sonically spacious, and carefully textured, the group’s new album strikes a balance between the flowing pop and pacy indie rock found on previous efforts. The songs are restless and constantly evolving; they build tension and then burst forward in new directions. With years of experience behind them, these musicians have an incredible ability to develop excellent guitar tones and textures. Brass Bed adds frenetic guitars and uptempo rock drums to dreamy, atmospheric production, resulting in something that sounds like a supercharged version of Beach House. The band celebrates the album release with a show tonight at Scoot Inn supported by Austin mainstays Moving Panoramas and Tele Novella. Get your tickets here! And stream “I Am Just A Whisper” from In the Yellow Leaf below along with music from both openers.
