Touring behind her most recent album Divers, the latest addition to a masterful oeuvre, Joanna Newsom stops in Austin at ACL Live next Wednesday, September 7. From the early days of harp-pop songs on Milk-Eyed Mender to the more recent elaborate, orchestral and conceptual work, Newsom has created a singular voice in modern music. Equally as impressive as hearing her stunning recordings, her live show never disappoints as Newsom’s visually captivating full-size harp and arresting voice compel enrapt attention. She’s one of our generation’s great artists, and I can’t recommend seeing her strongly enough, especially in a room as sonically flawless as ACL Live. A few tickets are still available. Stream “Sapokanikan,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, with whom Newsom worked on the film Inherent Vice, below.
