Heather Trost Brings Psych Pop to Sahara Lounge Tomorrow 7/14

Often, circulating around the names of bands and musicians you know are many more you should know. If you’ve been a fan of Neutral Milk Hotel, a Hawk and a Hacksaw, or Thor Harris, you should know Heather Trost. Trost, who has played with all of those artists, released a new collection of songs on June 2nd, following a 7″ in 2014 and a cassette of ambient records in 2015. The album, entitled Agistri, marks the first of Trost’s solo efforts to consist of more straightforward songs. Of course, Trost unsurprisingly works to incorporate intriguing musical flavors such as samba, soul, and tropicalia within these catchy, compressed pop tracks. Trost, and drummer Jeremy Barnes (also of Neutral Milk Hotel and Hawk and a Hacksaw) will perform with Thor and Friends tomorrow, July 14, at Sahara Lounge. This is one of those shows that flies under the radar but absolutely should not be missed. Be there, music lovers. Watch the video for the album’s title track below.
