Sometimes, when you go to write a show preview, there are just so many good things you can say, it’s hard to know where to start. This one’s like that, but for you it’s a no-brainer, so don’t miss it. Kurt Vile, a founding member of the acclaimed band The War on Drugs, who already boasts an accomplished solo career, will play the Mohawk on Tuesday night. Vile’s newest album Wakin’ on a Daze is one of the year’s best albums, full of sprawling, distorted, 90s-influenced rock and folk. For more on the incredible album you can read our review here.
As if that weren’t reason enough to buy tickets, the show will be opened by Sonny and the Sunsets, a band that could be called something of a cult hero. Their latest effort also garnered high praise from us, and we can’t wait to hear the band’s dark, strange pop come to life at the Mohawk. Below are tracks from each of the bands. Get psyched! We’ll see you at the show.
