From the sexy, synthy sounds of Memory Tapes to Gayngs, and all the bands in between, indiedom has seen a sharp rise in the influence of the 80s in recent years. On “Do I Make You Feel Shy?” Connan Mockasin gives us some slinky, effect-smothered synth and guitar grounded by thin snares. It’s almost impossible not to sway to these sounds as Mockasin croons gently. It feels a little tongue and cheek, but it’s far to smooth, chic, and catchy to be outright sarcastic. The track will be a part of Mockasin’s upcoming full-length Caramel, out November 5th on Mexican Summer. It’s an apt title, as a glimpse at other tracks confirms that most of the album promises to be as sexy sweet as, well, caramel. Stream “Do I Make You Feel Shy?” below.
