The Tontons are a name you must have heard by now. Red Bull’s Sound Select concert series has previously featured the Houston indie-pop band, who has also been landing spots on festival bills around the country including Gulf Shores, Alabama’s Hangout Fest and Austin’s own Fun Fun Fun Fest. We, too, have been early proponents of the band, covering their shows and hosting them for one of our day parties during last year’s SXSW. Undoubtedly, the band’s indie-pop, driven by the outstanding vocals of lead singer Asli Omar, quickly converts new listeners to full-fledged devotees. Tonight, Austinites will have an excellent opportunity to see the band for only $3 at a Red Bull Sound Select Showcase that also features two electro-pop acts: Dallas band Ishi and Austin’s own The Clouds Are Ghosts. Just make sure you RSVP HERE. Admission is dependent upon capacity and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, so show up early. Below you can see and hear music from these bands, including “Veida,” the newest video from The Tontons, released less than a month ago. See you tonight, Austin!
