Last fall, stalwart indie label Mexican Summer released a book commemorating their 5th anniversary. The 10″ record that accompanied the extensive history of the label and the artist contributions of its roster included collaborations between many of the musicians who’ve released music on the imprint. Today, the first video for one of the songs on that record surfaced. Jorge Elbrose (a collaboration between Ariel Pink + Jorge Elbrecht) shared the video for “Called to Ring” directed by Elbrecht. Of the video, Elbrecht stated, “The idea was to have a wash of hair, camo and white guitars all happening in slow motion, with Ariel and I popping in and out as these cold, eyeless theater masks. As we sing in unison on the recording, we thought we should spend the bulk of the video conjoined.” Watch the video above and buy Mexican Summer: Five Years right here.
